Greetings from Grace
Grace Su's China Gorge has been a beloved part of the Hood River community since 1978. Originally from Indonesia, Grace and KokDjen Su came to the United States as students and settled in Oregon, where they embraced Hood River’s natural beauty and rich history. After completing their studies, they purchased the former Sundown restaurant in their favorite fishing town, starting a family tradition that has continued for more than four decades.
Under the care of Grace, the restaurant has become a cherished place where generations of locals and visitors have gathered with their families and friends to enjoy authentic Hunan-Szechuan cuisine.
Consistently voted the best Chinese restaurant in the Columbia River Gorge, China Gorge is proud to carry on a legacy of delicious food and warm hospitality. We invite you to join us and be a part of our story.
Past Generations
1924 - 1977
China Gorge is located on the historic site of a former service station, and a number of restaurants, bars, and diners that many locals have fond memories of.
